Grida delle Biade - Chardonnay Colli Piacentini DOC

“It is ordered and imposed”: as punctual as the Summer the provender edicts (Grida delle biade in Italian) arrived. They were shouted during market days and then put up on the churches portals, in the pubs and in the shops. The edicts sanctioned what was lawful and not in the management of the grains produced in the lands of Parma e Piacenza Dukedom: the transit, the quantity and quality of production, exportation, prices, control of products, consumers and stocking.

They often were restrictive and repressive norms which imposed heavy tax burdens.

Trespassers were punished with fines and sometimes with corporal punishments.
